Exhaust headers; what are they made of ?

I've got a 2011 model adventure with rough looking exhaust headers. Was there options regarding the finish? Are they all stainless or was Crome an option does anyone know. Would like to get them off for a polish if it's worthwhile

There was/is the option of chrome headers.
My 2007 GSA has them, 8 years and 70,000kms and they still look great.

There's a big unit in Colchester that will powder coat them in pretty much any colour you like......they do turbos, manifolds, 'zorsts and all sorts, and they're very reasonable on price.......I was looking at getting mine done in a slightly sparkly anthracite colour

Thanks Bill Ill have a think about painting them but I'd prefer to polish them . I guess I can try and see what happens.
If the place your thinking of is impact coatings , then I would seriously look elsewhere. I've used them twice in the last few years and both times they messed up and did a crap job.
