Hello! Iv just fitted a y piece to my 2002 1150 gs. All fitted fine! Put it back together! Started it left it run to check leaks! All OK! So I gave ot a few revs to see what it sounded like! She seams to be a bit smokier and she is blowing flames if reved hard!? Is this normal or am in trouble???

The smoke may be from unburnt oil left in the exhaust.

However, don't let it idle at a standstill for long it WILL overheat.
Rather take it for a ride then see if its ok.

did you reset the ecu so your bike can re learn the new fuel ratio buy removing the battery terminal for 10 mins

Did this today! Made a big difference! Even runs and sounds better! A great modification! Thanks for the help!

OK lads! Iv had a good few spins since I last posted about my exhaust issue! I still have a lot of smoke! Some black smoke from hard exceleration and on deceleration? And if it's left on its side stand and then started in can blow some blueish smoke and there is a oiley smell from it! Iv done the tps after removing the battery! Any advice? :thumb2

Do you understand the function of a TPS. And why fitting a new exhaust wouldn't have changed how it works :D

I changed the oil in it.. it has bean kept in a damp shed for a few year. so when I brought it I didn't know when or what oil was in it.. so I put in 20w50 Castrol.. sure that cant be anything to do with it?? Maybe im just being picky. I know I must do vale clearences and throttle balance to soon...

Just ride it and keep an eye on the oil level and the colour of the spark plugs.

You might experience some backfiring on deceleration ... nothing to worry about either.
