I have in my posession a LH Panier from an 1100S ie a full size box. I have seen a number of kits for lowering the exahust to allow the use of a full sized pannier. I have a number of questions:-

1. Any opinions on the alternative lowering kits.

2. I have a Remus Y-Piece and end can, do they still work?
3. Is it easy to revert to normal exhaust position when not using the full sized box?

4. Any other comments or advise.

Cheers

Roger, have a dig about on the site, there was a thread about this some time ago. I think motor works were doing something along the lines of what you were looking for. Try a search, good hunting

I have the Staintune low exhaust on my bike - I ordered it and a large left pannier when I ordered the bike. I had the small pannier on an R850R and couldn't see the point on a touring bike. You can get the low bracket without the pipe and use your own pipe. Although the pipe is lower, it isn't completely level, so I think it is a great mod. The pipe is good too, but it was a bit pricey coming all the way from Oz - I was hit for customs duty at the airport!! It has a removable baffle and this plus a Remus Y piece going into it now gives the crackle and pop effect when decelerating which is good fun. I'm sure one of the mechanical geniuses on this forum could fashion a simple bracket to do the job.

Having browsed this site for a few weeks, I have just registered and this is my first post. Thanks to all contributors, I have learned an awful lot from the shared experience.

Have you got a web address or pictures?

Roger

Having spent a few minutes with my nose about an inch from the screen and still being unable to find the box, I have discovered that I am not allowed to attach images - I can do everything else! I'll have to go under the bonnet later and see if I can fix that. I hve the pics, so I'll get them to you one way or another over the weekend. I'll try and get them up here in case anyone else is interested.

Cheers,

Hmm! As usual, the problem is the small matter of the money!! Hadn't paid the "sponsor" dosh (hadn't even seen that page before), so have tried to activate the FastPay techno-wizardry but it will take a couple of days for security clearance so can't post the pics till that comes through. Can you send me your email through a private message and I'll email the photos to you if you want them sooner? If anyone else is interested, I'll stick them on here when I can.

Sorry about that! The money's somewhere in cyberspace.

Whoopee! FastPay gave me £25 smackaroos to play around with, so my dues are paid and I'm in the attachment business!!

With a bit of luck, the pictures of the Staintune pipe should appear below!! I think their website is www.staintune.com but its a while since I have visited it as I have had the pipe for three years now.

Cheers,

Psyko

Sorry, I should have said that the funny thing attached to the outside (i.e. the original) bracket is the holder for an ABUS disc lock, so you can ignore this.

I also put a set of City lids on the panniers, and I attach a photo so that you can see how the full size pannier sits above the pipe. I don't really use the City lids anymore, since the top box does fine around town unless I have to carry some extra files etc. in which case the normal panniers seem better.

I'll shut up now.................

psyko dya wana flog them there city lids ? if so e me plese

Thinking about it, I might give the 'oul city lids another run out - I got caught in a line of traffic 'cos of the wider panniers the other day - I used to put the laptop in one side and a soft briefcase in the other and that left the top box free for beer and sandwiches! With the City lids, if the front end goes through the rest follows. I don't think they were that expensive new - can't remember. Although the little BMW Logo to stick on them is relatively costly.
