Exhaust mounts???

Whilst stripping my bike down a number of bits got broken, one of the broken bits is an exhaust mount (little bobbin thingy from somewhere around the stand mounts). When ordering all the other replacement breakages they never had a mount and said "main dealer part", so I duely rang a main dealer who informed me that BMW have said that these mounts aren't needed and the exhaust can hang of the rear mount and manifold, whilst sure that it would do it I'm not happy as it's a fair old weight.

Does it need the mounts and if so where do I get them?

never knew there was supposed to be an extra mount

Mine disintigrated about 3 years ago and not had any on since, i was told the same as you.
so far no problems.

BMW stopped using those mounting points a some years ago, on all models RS/RT/GS .

Don't worry about it, be happy, you've just saved yourself some money.
