Exhaust pipe glows red

Hi all , just been round my mates who has a 07 plate Dakar when the engine is running the exhaust front pipe glows red hot , is normal ? or what can the problem be? Just changed the plugs for Iridium plugs ! Could this be the cause ? Cheers Mel

Check:
-Valve clearances
-Coolant level
-Oil level

All the above may contribute to the over heating of the engine but the very first one will contribute more to the glowing manifold. The iridiums will actually cause better combustion though which will also cause heat but not som much as to get the manifold red. Also make sure the cooler fan starts working at some point.

Cheers for that. It turns out that he has just changed the oil and filter not touched the water or the valve clearences could there be a problem with the oil filter ? Thanks for your help Mel
