If I fit a Remus Genisis can am I right in thinking I'll have to fit a heatshield to my panniers ( The system ones )?

silencers

i had a genisis and now a blueflame with system panniers with no problems ,larger gap between silencer and pannier than std silencer, it seems to be the exhaust gases and the large aluminium panniers that have problems with heat buildup

Same here. I ran a Genesis with system panniers for two years, never had a problem.

Th street legal version may run hotter - mine was a race can.

I have a Remus Viper twin spout can on one of my 1100s and a Remus Revolution titanium oval can with straight through link pipe on the other 1100.
I use the BMW System panniers on both, and have had no problems at all, including on a 2800 mile trip last year.
As stated above, there is actually a larger air gap than with the original pipe.
