I have phoned around and had quotes for an extended warranty on my GSA 1200 and settled with Warranty Direct? They appear to offer best cover for the money? Any one on the forum used the same and made a claim?

I was told that waiting for policy arrival but quick search on google re warranty direct covering mot failure repairs appears correct?

yes it will cover an item which has failed and picked up at the mot , but not the wear and tear items

Cost

I have a 2008 '58' GSA with 28k on it. They wanted more than BMW at the start of the call?? But after mentioning the fact that at Xmas time someone on here posted a price of £195 I believe so they passed it to the underwriters who called me back and £150 less than there first quote got my warranty for £225? Which I didn't think was bad as one claim with no excess would recover that and after all it's a late Gs it will breakdown!!

Good Deal I thought,,,

Very much like the other posts on here ref Warranty Direct. Did tinernet search and got a quote of £250. One call the next day to see if i was interested to which i told them i was'nt that interested, then a call today offering me the warranty for £220 which was spread interest free over 4 months. I was surprised when they told me that the bike will be covered to be repaired at the BMW dealers and yes wear and tear covered on components other than pads/tyres if failed at MoT.

At that price I could'nt say no.

Wear and tear part still not 100% !! have you had chance to check what they tell you on the phone compared to the policy booklet , because they told me i was covered for full european breakdown cover but cant find anything stating that in my policy ?? :)

European Break Down Cover !!

That was a specific question i asked them, the reply was that they do not offer breakdown cover but if you do they will refund up to £250 in expenses on production of receipts on return.

I will be checking the cover when i get it and hopefully it'll reveil no surprises !

Just a thought if anyone is wondering if its worth taking it out.

A friend with a 1300GT 2009 has already had replaced under warranty-

Final drive complete
2 handle bar switches
Headlight (The expensive one)
The rear strut and ESA softwear (This will cost over £2500 for them to replace)

Total cost to BMW? About £5500....

Bike has 15,000 on the clock.

Makes me think of selling mine as soon as the warranty's up :blast

Extended warranty never crossed my mind on any of my other bikes :nenau

Listening to all these issues and people being scarred of running out of warranty, are they really that shyte
