Just upgraded from 550 to 660 and had first serious run with it yesterday.

The unit is wired into the socket on the headstock of my GSA, as was the old one. No apparent problems with power despite the verbal message. Software on the unit is up to date (v 4.10).

I got the message repeatedly on two runs yesterday. It took me a while to spot the pattern but the message comes up whenever I go somewhere other than the way the 660 is set. The verbal warning "External Power Lost" also always prefaces the message "Recalculating"

I set two routes whilst out yesterday. The first was one I created in Mapsource and uploaded to the 660. The second was to simply select 'Home' from the menu.

Lot of head-scratching going on here! Any ideas from the good and the great?!:comfort

IIWY I'd register with www.zumoforums.com and have a look there.

One thought what software version are you on and have you run webupdater to make sure the 660 is on the latest software, and then done a master reset. The master reset seems, accoridng to some, to be a necessary step

John- thanks for your reply.

I've checked on Zumo Forums but I can't find anyone who's had the same problem.

The unit was supplied with V4.10 which I understand is the latest. I think the next step is to try a re-load to see if it sorts it but I wanted to see whether there was any specific feedback from here on the problem before wasting hours watching the damn thing updating!:blast

I've Had This Fault (Still have in fact)

I had (still have) the same problem. See my post in the thread "660 Zumo update to Version 4.1 available"

My problem actually started after updating to version 4.1.

I eventually tracked it down to the 'Emily' navigation voice. I don't get the issue with any other voice. For now I'm just working with the male voice and everything is fine.

Not ideal, but for a short term fix, try choosing a different voice for navigation instructions.

ST4S, well done for working that out! I wouldn't have thought of that in a month of Sunday's. I'l try it next time I'm out.

With v4.10 I also find that Emily gets her knickers in a twist when you deviate from the planned route. Mine does that "external power lost" just before the recalculating. Changed to another voice and that fixes it, shame really as I've got used to the voice of Emily. :(

A response from Garmin

Got this today..........

"Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe.

Thank you for your feedback regarding this problem. This is an issue we are aware of and are currently in the process of resolving this with a future software update. We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused. "

I reported it back when I first got the issue, so not a particularly speedy response, but at least I got one.

Mine started doing this a couple of days ago. Well I only noticed it then as most of the time I'm just playing music through it but did notice it happened every time the unit recalculated.

Fixed in latest firmware update

Just to confirm, the latest firmware update (4.2) has fixed this issue.
I've been using it for a week with no problems.
