Finally taken delivery of my GS and I'm well chuffed. However it's got these dinky little lights on the engine bars and I can't get them to light up. Can anybody tell me how it's done please?

Without seeing them and knowing the history it's not easy to give you an answer. Is the bike new or 2nd hand? If it's the ADV model with original fog lamps there will probably be a rocker type switch like the one for the heated grips somewhere.
If they are additional lamps fitted by the previous owner they could be wired up any number of ways. Best idea is trace the wiring back if possible and locate the switch that way. You could also try asking the previous owner (details will be on the V5) or dealer if its new.

It may have got an Autoswitch or Rob Farmer Motoswitch. Try holding down the indicator cancel switch for a couple of seconds.
Frustration
Tried that Steve but it didn't work, it's got to be along those lines because I can't see any other switches anywhere else. Gues I'll just keep trying.
