I really don't get it. I have a 2013 GS TE and I don't get this protection lark

1. crud catcher in case the engine gets dirty. It's a GS FFS - it's meant to get dirty
2. radiator guards. My previous bikes all had exposed radiators, never had any problems.
3. infill panels - cos my likkle legs get dirty. See 1.
4. mudslinger FFS see 1
5. Head light guard- in 30 years of riding, never had a headlight broken
6. Vinyl rap even bigger FFS

:blast

super shiney for me, they go faster:D the new TE isnt going to be as durable as the TU, TC, i was washing my TE and used my nail to remove a tar spot on the front engine cover and scratched the cover:blast you need that front crud or some protection from the front wheel if you dont want it looking like a shit tip in a few months, its not a GS thing wanting to protect your bike either, most race reps are being ventureshielded before leaving the showrooms, call it protecting your investment:D

Variety is fine, no need to get arsey about it.

I've invested a lot. I have rad guards on my other bikes and ventureshield full over one of them, a sports bike. I actually feel the same as you about infill panels, head light guards and the mudslinger. I wouldn't have a pop at anyone who fitted these though, it's their bike, money and choice.

My wrap was partly to stop me scuffing the side panels and partly vanity to change to a darker look/carbon look. If you don't like it, maybe avert your eyes from those posts...

I'm guessing you also don't have the iPad mount sorted yet.

Vinyl rap????????...........is that like hip-hop, but on the old style black discs?? :D

The bike I'm part exing is a 2010 GSA, bought new.

It has two feck off dents in the oil cooler (I didn't fit a guard 'till I saw the damage) and a feck of crack in the headlight (I hadn't fitted a light protector 'till after I'd cracked it) :blast

Those two things are the only thing's I'd be concerned with, and my new bike will be fitted with Rad and light protectors from day one.

(Yes - a lot of the other stuff is just chavy tat :D)

If you don't ride with other bikes (I do and I also do a fair bit of teaching so tend to ride close to the bike infront..) then the light and rad stuff is probably not worth your while. But for peepes who ride a lot in a group, Rad and lights make perfect sense. :thumb

Lucky you. I had to replace mine a couple of years ago - v. expensive. £30 guard worth every penny.

In over 35yrs of driving I'd never had a puncture in a car , until last week! It was a brand new tyre, less than 30 miles old and needed replacing. I've now taken to removing all the tyres and driving on the rims 'cos rubber ain't cheap and so preventative measures were called for. :thumb2

One thing I've quickly come to notice is that the 2013 GS definately needs a rear hugger of sorts.
First bike I've had that actually throws crap on the underside of your legs:eek:

12GSA did the same with pillions.

Took 3 years of aero testing to get it to do that and your going to fit a hugger ffs:augie

You need to consider that 90% of these new GS will lead a pampered life as weekend playthings with little use in any inclement weather and then only when the owners are wearing the correct colour coordinated clothing.

Since the evolution of the 1200 the buyer profile has changed significantly from the more rufty tuffty types that purchased the original airheads/1100/1150 models.
