Not really the right bike for this forum but somebody might be able to help?
I have an old Funduro I use as a winter hack to work etc. The rear caliper is constantly seizing-up:eek: but for some reason you can't get a seal kit for this caliper - even though it's easy enough to strip.
I don't want to spend £160+ on a new caliper 'cos it's probably more than the bikes worth. Does anybody know if you can use a seal kit( or part of the kit) for another caliper to overhaul mine? or does a Pegaso caliper(and bracket) fit??
Any info/advice gratefully received:bow

Cheers..................Grizzly:beer:

well, the swing arm looked identical on my fundy to a pegaso

I should think all the seals etc will be standard (industry) sizes.
All you've got to do is find what these are and then a good hydraulics centre should have them. :thumb

Are you sure it's the caliper and not the master cylinder sticking? The MCs are a known problem, being prone to seize.

Thanks for Replies

Sure it's the caliper - a delicate:rolleyes:chap with a hammer frees things off! Agree with comments about "industry standard" etc - which is why I posted the thread here - ie does one of the twin piston kits do the job? - twice:rolleyes:
Usually Motobins & Motorworks are switched on to these options but in this case they just say "no, BMW doesn't do a seal kit, you have to buy the whole caliper" - hard to believe or understand really.
The Pegaso uses a different Brembo caliper and so would need the mounting plate as well but not sure if disc is same dia. & position.

Thanks for your help..................Grizzly:beer:

hey grizzly, you could try across on f650.co.uk. And motoworks appear to be correct, the parts fiche does not show a rebuild kit for the rear caliper

I tried a few different places and searches. They all say the same, non rebuildable throwaway item :blast Nobody mentions an alternative kit that would work.

Seems its down to brembo not releasing the kits. Last thing you could try is contacting brembo directly (with the part numbers off the caliper if possible) and seeing if they could help.

you could also try motorworks again, there is a rear caliper for a later injected f650 available and they are usually pretty good about returns if you can't use the parts, i'd get that caliper and see if it fitted the bike, there was mention over on f650.com of a later front brake caliper fitting an earlier bike, hopefully its the same for the rears.. At least then if it fits you know it can be rebuilt in the future :thumb2

Another thing to do is Post a few pics of your caliper, hopefully i can tell you if it looks anything like mine on the dakar, if it does you stand a chance of it fitting.
