I'm in the market for a late Funduro or early F650GS. Are there any common problem areas to look out for other than head bearings?

Apologies. I know this will have been covered many times before and I have done a search without much luck. Any advice appreciated. :beerjug:

There's also this link below, courtesy of the Chain Gang. It's heavy reading and could easily put one off

Ignore any references to "canisterectomy". That's for USA bikes only

That's brilliant Trevor, just what I was looking for. The general opinion seems to be that the Funduro and GS are fairly well matched tipping in favour of the Funduro regarding owner maintenance - could be important 'on the road'.

Here's the deciding comment: "If I was going from HK to the UK via China & Russia, I'd take the Classic. It's a pity about the poor quality of a lot of Parts on the Classic, bearings etc, but like Flash says, I can fix the Carbs. Sure I could carry a spare injector, but a Spare Motronic, Speedo Sensor Cable, Fuel Filter/regulator, Fuel Pump...?? Naaah"

While I prefer the aesthetics of the GS I think I'll be looking for a couple of late Funduro's for the sake of practicality.
