New to the GS forum, wife just got a 54 plate 650 gs and looking for some pannniers for it.

Which are best, where to buy (other than e-bay), looking to make my own in workshop?

Nice looking website & product Bernie, problem is, the man has an F650GS, & you don't seem to have a kit listed to make your panniers fit, or indeed a pair of boxes the same size (no large silencer on one side of the 650).

Have a look at Caja Sahel for a set of panniers for the 650.

Anything but the BMW vario panniers

They are too heavy, plastic lower mounts break and wear badly on dirt conditions.

If you fall even at standstill it pushes the mounts around & then you spend ages getting them to clip on again.

BM pannier bags for 650

If anyone is interested Ive come across a pair of expandable pannier and top box bags. Pannier bags used for only 2 trips, top - never used. Sold my Dakar a few months back. Ill see what sort of money they go for and put a post in the "for sale" section.

Dear All - many thanks for the replies - new to the "collective" and wife only been riding a short while - will look at the replies and check out web sites etc..

I will be getting a set of the genuine BMW expandable hard panniers for the F650gs and Dakar in the next week or so that will be surplus to requirements.

They will be boxed, brand new and unused AT ALL

They will come with the mounting rails and locks

For this total package you are looking at £450+ from a BM dealer

First offer over £325 can have em......collection only ( Wetherby area near Leeds ) unless you want to sort a courier

I have the same panniers on mine, use them daily and have found them brilliant, light and very easy to use.

If no interest here I will put them in the for sale section when I get them, failing that off to e bay they go !
