f650GS Dakar Vario pannier mounting

Hello,
Looking to get a 650GS Dakar as a winter hack. Most of them don't seem to come with panniers. If I get one without and then pick up the paniers seperately, what do I need to mouint the panniers. Am I corract in understanding that the 650 has mounting bolts/lugs rather than rails?

The 650 does have a lug but it also has a rail mounted just under the tail section - helps to support the pannier in a fall. Really quite simple to fit, if a little fiddly.

Panniers are available again as the prospective buyer has decided to buy an 1150 instead (lucky git!)
