Hi everyone!

Picking my GS up on Saturday from Oxford :)

Would like to fit a screen (Eagle?) and handguards. Which handguards would you recommend?

Cheers! Ferret.:beerjug:

Is it the single, if so the originals are ok for road work.

Off orad, Acerbis rally brush guards are my choice (when I get around to fitting them :blast)

It depends what you want them to do, I have the BuMW ones with the extensions, they look strong enough to take offroad but not sure about the keeping the wind off the hands. As i only use mine for commuting and pleasure I think I should have gone for a different one that offers more wind protection, will have to see how they fare hwne the weather gets colder :augie

my dad has an eagle screen on his dakar, they look pretty good and he rates it highly

he also has the BMW handguards and AFAIK there are no issues with clearance at full lock with the eagle screen

i find the BMW handguards ok for on road stuff; imho its worth adding the handguard spoilers - for me, the standard ones were slightly to small, the spoilers greatly improve protection for your hands

F650GS Handguards.

We're using the standard BMW handguards on our 05 and 06 F650GS's.

SWMBO is happy with hers and they've stood up to the odd drop without any drama whatsoever!

I find mine would give a bit more weather protection in the cold with the Touratech extensions fitted but i've just made a set of extensions out of an old black oil container which are more or less the same but cost nothing.........!

I have the clear Dakar screen fitted to the bike and with the handlebars tilted slightly forward(i'm 6 foot 4 and ride the bike standing up a bit offroad) the bars do come into contact with the screen on full lock but the screen just deflects a bit out of the way.

I ride the bike on the farm and offroad a bit and if I was going to drop the bike a lot I would fit more durable handguards and not bother about the weather protection.

Thanks for all the info! Think I'll go for the standard ones - I'm not thinking of going off-road.
