My 2002 GS will soon be due its 18000 mile service.

Anyone got recent experience with the costs your BMW dealer charges for this one?

TIA. :thumb2

Cheers for the info, Alex :thumb

I'm tempted to do the service, but I don't have experience in doing the valve clearances myself. It's got full Beemer s/h, so coupling that with the clearances (and it getting a full health checkvwhilst in for the service) that at least its first service (with the bike under my ownership) might as well get done by the dealer.

last bmw service my dakar had was at 6k, it's now approaching 30k :D

Valve clearances aren't that hard, just the ammount of stuff that has to come off to get to em.

Research, and if in doubt at all just ask on here and people will talk you through it step by step....Just dont worry, slowly and methodically, you can do it. Its just new to you, once you do do it then you will think " That was easy I could do that again" and then one day some one else will ask your question and you can then say.....................
Ive never done a water pump before but it was easy with help from the friends on here..

Quite agree Tosh, done my own servicing on my 1150GSA, got a new 12GSA so dealers doing that for warranty purposes.
Now the proud owner of a 650 Dakar as well, looking forward to doing my own servicing etc, and as before look on here for advice if its a tricky one.
