Cleaning the bike my attention was drawn to what appears to be two hairline cracks in the front wheel. Very difficult to decide if they are cracks in the lacquer or deeper cracks in the alloy. As soon as I find out how to do it I will post a pic. Any similar experience or knowledge of alloy wheel cracks much appreciated.

F650Gs Twin Front alloy wheel Cracks?

Cleaning the bike my attention was drawn to what appears to be two hairline cracks in the front wheel. Very difficult to decide if they are cracks in the lacquer or deeper cracks in the alloy. As soon as I find out how to do it I will post a pic. Any similar experience or knowledge of alloy wheel cracks much appreciated. Not sure why but the first post was closed, presumably by an administrator, don't know why.
Anyway after much buggering around I have reduced the file size to attach a pic.

It is hard to tell, but my first impression is they are scratches.
I have severely bent two sets of rims from potholes and shite road conditions here in Mexico. In neither case were the rims cracked. My first rims had a terrible factory finish that BMW refused to warranty. When those were bent, the second set from the factory had a darker grey finish and have not chipped or peeled, but they are also bent. Get down with a magnifying glass and get yourself a really good look after throughly cleaning them.
