Hello all, I have recently purchased a 2017 F700GS LS, according to the riders manual, the max payload is 137kg (224 kg for a standard suspension bike). I'm around 80kg so this restriction would mean I couldn't let my partner ride pillion (she is around 70kg), does anyone have real life experience of overloading this model (with pillion or luggage) and what were the consequences (if any)?

I have an ‘09 F800, with nearly 108,000 miles on it. We toured all over Europe 2 up, with the kitchen sink. At around 77,000 the rear shock gave up.
Just do it, you’ll be fine

I have the same model and year. My missus and I are 130 wringing wet. Say 140 with all our riding gear and helmets. I have adventure spec bars on (8 / 10 kgs appx plus a Vario top box say another 10 kgs loaded. So thats 160 kgs two up and the rear shock has never bottomed out. I did have panniers from my F650 but I didnt fit these in case I overloaded the back end.

Just make sure the pre load is wound in to the max.

Thanks for the responses, and advice, loaded up I'll be pushing it towards 170kg, but I'll just have to get out there and give it a go. Could help if I stop raiding the fridge at night, that might give me some wriggle room 🤔
