So we all know it's a well documented fact that this gasket leak has more come backs than Madonna. So replaced mine last year, garmed it up with loads of gasket sealant and thought, yep, job's a good-en...
Checking the bike over last week only to find it's failing again, like WTF!!!
So the big question I'm throwing out to the F8 collective is, has anyone found a full proof way of putting this to bed once and for all
I own a 08 model and had the dreaded weep from the rocker cover and lived with it for 6 months, but eventually changed the gasket with a new one and used a liberal amount of clear sealant, not too much though........ And 18 months on and 12,000 miles, it is still as it should be, so to answer your question, maybe too much sealer, faulty gasket, not torque up correctly or a slightly warped rocker cover.
Mine leaked a couple of years back found a thread poss American that suggested using permatex ultra black sealant which I bought from ebay not expensive anyway stripped & cleaned it re-fitted the old gasket and no problems since although it's only done about 5k
