I received a letter from BMW HQ offering a one year extension to my warranty, I think it was £270. The bike has done 9000 miles and I'm likely to do the same again over the next year.

VFM or not, what have others had done under warranty on a bike with 20,000 miles. The only work done to date other than servicing or recalls was headstock bearings at 6000 miles.

Think i'm at about 20 - 25k... rocker gasket done under warranty. Asides that the potentiometer (£130 part although fitted by me required £30 calibration) went ~18k i think

Mines on 32,000 and has suffered no failures since the recall bits and pieces were fixed and the clutch nut fell off - covered under warranty.

I did extend mine since the clutch issue was shortly before the due date, but as I say nothing has failed since so it was money down the drain.

I certainly wouldn't bother knowing how reliable these bikes are...

I had the extended warranty for two years, then cancelled it this year.
42,000 miles with no problems, I decided to cancel after ditching NOG and using Motoscot for servicing, as one of the extended warranty conditions is that you must use a BMW dealer.
This was a win, win for me, resulting in better servicing, cheaper servicing + saving the extended warranty cost
Another thing to watch out for is the extended warranty does not have the same level of cover as the original warranty..

My '09 F800GS spent 3 weeks in April sitting in a BMW workshop 'waiting for time' so it could be repaired under warranty. If they cannot fix within 2 or 3 hours, it will be fitted in as-and-when. The cost to me was £80 for
sparkplugs and something else. The warranty saved me the cost of a new fuel sensor, reprogramming the ECU and monkeying around with the throttle position sensor.
