I done a couple of few thousand mile trips round europe since having the 800 and it always returns an average of 61mpg.... which i think is pretty damned good considering the mix of speeds.

Me too sir :thumb

279 miles from full tank to push on one occasion :thumb

The other day I wet for a Sunday A-road bimble an averaged 71mpg without trying!!

Yep, for everyday riding I get 60mpg dropping to an individual journey average of 50mpg in very heavy Oxford commuting traffic, and I don't hang around.

Comparing it to my previous bike, a Honda Transalp 650, that was averaging between 42 - 46mpg overall, it didn't have an OBC so I couldn't check particular journeys so that was the overall average.

I think the F800GS is amazing, more so when you factor in it puts out nearly 25bhp more than the Honda and is returning between 15 - 20 extra miles to the gallon :)

I'm going to vomit..., Im not surprised Mr K. You have spent so long riding your over heavy, thirsty, unreliable R1200GS the F800GS must seem like a revelation. You know you want one really, your in denial, thats why you have started visiting this section and leaving so many adverse comments.
Yes 60 mpg worst on a windy fast motorway journey. Average 69 mpg and at best 75 mpg while touring in France (255 miles and still fuel in the tank).

:D

How heavy is my 1200?

Giz a kish!

:kissy2

229 Kg with fuel ready to go (256 Kg for the GSA). It may not sound like much but ride both on a back to back test and the 207 Kg F800GS seems so much easier to handle. Im not against the R1200s, they have so many good points but for the moment the F800GS gives me everything I need in a bike.

I haven't had my 800 long but I've been getting 60+ MPG without really trying which is a bonus! It is a great bike, much better than I thought it would be!

And the MPG is great as I used my car this week and hitting the throttle quite hard I got it down to 6 MPG!! But the noise was better than the 800!!!

Where am I going wrong then ... ? 53mpg here...

Your probably wackin the throttle open and riding it like you stole it unlike this frugal ,be nice to moths squad :augie

brrrrrrrrrr change brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr change brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr arrrrggghhhhhhhh kill pussy cat !!!!!!!!

Any relationship between the mileage on an engine and the fuel economy? I've still only got 2500 miles on the clock, albeit in 2 months, and am getting 52 mpg.

Even when I ride nice and sensibly at a steady 60 mph I can't get an average better than about 58 mpg.

On one tank of petrol, on my 650, I got an astounding 93 mpg! This was calculated manually, not via the computer.

I should note, that I used Imperial gallons (not USG), and the tank was mostly spent riding through Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, where the speed limit is rather well enforced at 45-50 mph.
:augie:D

All I know is my F8GS gives me around 200miles per fill-up. Got the computer but prefer to reset my trip-1 too zero to monitor my fuel use.

Could give more mileage (best is around 230, way back with no added blingage) if I take changing gear nice & steady & stop overtaking so many practically stood still cars *Coughs*. I use engine braking quite allot now & if you've never felt the counterbalance kick in. You ain't lived...so dangerously as I have in my early months of owning me bike.

That's around what I get when 'not hanging about'. Never gone below 50.

Best was 67mpg following my bimble-obsessed chum round Scotland for three days.

Figures arrived at by actual use - not the OBC.
