I hope you don't think I am butting in, and I don't know your exact circumstances, but because you have a plate in in your Fibula does not necessarily mean you have to sell your bike.

I have plates rods all sorts of stuff in my lower right leg that will remainh there forever and been diagnosed with arthritis in my knee 3 years ago, and I'm only 34. However, its does not stop me from doing stuff including climbing, mountain biking and motorbiking. Indeed, thats is one of the reasons I got a GS, as its comfier and not as painful on long rides as the VFR and SV I previously had.

I am assuming your accident is recent, which means your off the road for winter months. However, if you take your time, follow the physio etc etc you should be fit for the summer months. The secret is to get moving but take your time and th leg will get stronger, believe me.

I am only talking from experience, and in no way suggest you don't listen to the docs, but it ain't necessarily all bad and can be worked round.

No matter what you do, good luck in your recovery.

Cheers

Guess I'm like Yello, not wishing to interfere or anything. I've got a pile of screws holding my lower spine together. Had to relearn lots of things after the procedures, but was back on two wheels after about three months.

Then I fractured a mid-spine verterbrae in a holiday cliff-diving incident. Again, three months later (as soon as I could physically get the bike off the stand) I was away again. If I'd waited for the medics to say OK, I'd still be waiting. After two montsh they said I could resume light cycling in the gym, I nodded sagely and didn't tell them I'd been cycling to work for a month and was back out on the Sunday runs!

Best wishes for a full & rapid recovery.
