What-ho fellow GS types. Just chopped my b*%£$£d 05 GS12 in for this beauty:

and I pick it up this evening. I got fed up with the serious issues (also known as 'oh, you mean the usual niggles'!) on the GS which is a crying bloody shame as in almost every other way it is without a doubt the best motorcycle I've ever had. Thing is, I'm planning a trip to Budapest and I can't trust the GS as far as Bognor.

Is this K a good deal do you think? I was looking at a new Trumpet ST or perhaps Blackbird as I do a lot of touring and commute to the City from Horsham but the reviews on the K12S convinced me. As far as I can see, it's a bit of a bargain. I've had a Busa before and look forward to similar naughtiness on the K.

See ya geezers and thanks for the advice along the way.

That London

btw I'll be flogging the following on Ebay shortly so if you're interested...

Givi High and Wide Screen - smoke coloured
F... Tank Bag (forget the name but will advise)
Scorpoin zorst with baffle (currently removed)

I think I probably will, and for an ADV too but at the moment I really miss the silly acceleration of a nutter bike and the buffeting never really got sorted on the GS even after the usual extras were added. I'm staying with BMW though for now as the dealership seems to be excellent.

Off to Champagne on Friday arvo for the weekend :-)

Sorry Dude but you won't find them on the BM - major diff in BHP puts it in Sports Tourer as opposed to Hyper bike class. I rode a K12 round Misano for an afternoon and enjoyed the handling but not the lack of oomph.

I think Superbike has a group test you might wanna read. It's never too late ;)

:oonyack...Welcome to my world - Although I opted for the cheaper verison K12R

...Just less than 2 years in 38K (miles) on the clock.

Now running with Dunlops RSmarts which are fantastic in the wet and dry....& better than PR2 I had previously.

Enjoy!!!

If you have an 04 or 05 k12 good luck. As there has been more problems with these bikes that the GS. Asked your dealer about the over size air box which interferes with the smooth running of the bike and the poor gear box plus other issues. The k12 was to come out in 2003/04, but there was too many faults so it was held back. :thumb:beerjug:

The 08 K12 has a smaller airbox and new gear box.

I borrowed a K12 whilst having my GS serviced - nice bike with a smooth, linear power delivery.

Only problem was being pulled by the police within the first hour for "riding in an overly-enthusiastic fashion". They were good about it and I took the deserved telling off and no points which has to be a far better system than the bastard Gatso camera money-press scam. If I had a K12 I could see my license probably wouldn't last that long though!

I recently went the other way K12s to GS1200.
No regrets but I loved the K (apart from the need for a new rear tyre every 2K or so:)). Only problem was it didn't seem too keen to go slow!!
Of course in an ideal world I'd have both.
I'm sure you will enjoy it.
