Well moving on from my problematic electrical issue/gear selector problem.
I've replaced the gear selector switch was not doing its thing with a another and now have all my gears displayed.
The neutral light wasn't coming on and was very dim..... when the side stand was down and bike was in gear.
Now I know the old skool Gser's have said many times that one should snip all the zip ties and fasten them up loosely well I did that 2 year ago.
On the Advice of Doc Farkoff of this Parnish I checked the wire running up to the RID/speedos and low and behold right where the wiring makes an almost right angle upwards towards the RID unit was a short.......
When I stripped the protector/heat shrink back there was three wires splice into one then splice that had completeley corroded....... What nosh bag decided that splicing wires then bend the loom to such and extent that it was a right angle ove rthe splice was a good idea.
Anyway it's not pretty I've got some choc blocks in place until i can get it to a proper automotive sparky......
Photos to follow......
