My four year old (06) GS was recovered by the AA for the fourth time last week, much to the amusement of my Kawasaki riding friend. I've had a faulty battery (within warranty); new switch/lock assembly (within warranty); fuel pump controller; and the most recent was the ring antenna.
I was aware about the ring antenna problem but, whenever I got the "EWS" warning and a yellow triangle, as they disappeared on the second turn of the key I ignored the problem as a service was imminent (not a wise decision!). I did, however, read the manual which recommended using the spare key which appeared to work. However, on the day that the spare key started to generate the EWS warning, the bike finally refused to start and I was recovered.
The reason for this posting is to advise anyone getting the EWS warning to get the bike checked-out straight away in the hope of avoiding my misfortune. From my experience, complete failure appears to be imminent.
I wonder if the new Multistrada's going to be more reliable..........?
