Hi,

After doing a re-install of windows 7 after having briefly having windows 10 on my laptop I now have the following problem.

My favourites are read only. Any attempt to add to a folder will end up with a "access denied" window. I transferred my favourites via my usb after the transfer, I believe its the file type that is causing the problem.

I have been into the security settings but the box that requires ticking to change from read only is greyed out.

There are 126 folders so I would like to avoid doing a conversion on a individual bases.

I have had this transfer done in the past by our resident IT guru but now I am retired its down to me. So whilst I can use my favourite I cannot modify the contents.

Any suggestions for a person that has limited IT skills.

Thanks Steve

You've probably not used the same user name as on the last installation, so the PC thinks those aren't your files.

Make sure your user account is set as 'administrator' and you ought to be able to open them....also try right clicking on one of the files, select 'properties' and untick the 'read only' box under the security tab.

If that works (it should) them you can select as many folders, files or links as you like and do exactly the same to all of them at the same time :)
