I'm about to throw this PC up the road and start breaking another one, my query is fairly straightforward. Will I have to save all my accumulated links on Favourites, or will saving them to the broadband provider (done) preserve them ?

Hi, Just done a test, I don't know about saving your favourites to your provider but you can use the FILE/EXPORT IMPORT command to save them to a file. Good luck....

Not quite sure what you mean by 'saving it to the provider' Paul, but the easiest way of saving them (and all the other important bits like your desktop layout, internet accounts and passwords and shortcuts etc is to use FIle and transfer settings wizard.....save this onto a cd or floppies and you can use the same wizard to import them onto the new machine...then you'll feel right at home immediately rather than having to tweak and adjust again.

The reference to 'Saving to the provider' arose because when I was reconnected to BT (Feckin) Broadband it asked me if i wanted to 'save my favourites', so i clicked OK. I just wondered if that meant they were remotely accessible.

if by chance you are not using XP, file transfer wizard is not an option, you can just copy & save the favourites file. it's in C>windows.
