Feckin pop ups

If I had hair I would have large clumps in my hands by now!!

Running AOL 9.0, bit kiddie but the parental control is good so it has to stay. The reason fot the blood pressure is the recent spate of pop ups, big colourful buggers, some headed `microsoft provided by Virgin.net`, even have a alien tool bar called `searchBAR`. These pop ups can be anything from Casino on line betting or the `your our 5 millionth visitor click here to claim your prise`. My pop up blocker is on (fat lot of good!!)
Any advice on how to stop this sh%te and get rid of the toolbar (rich stays on screen, online or not) will be greatly appreciated.

You probably have some spyware installed on your computer. You probably didn't install it, it installed itself.

There are a bunch of spyware removal tools, a quick google should set you right.

I use Ad-Aware on my wife's Winblows box, and run Linux myself, so I don't have to worry about that sort of nonsense.

Try SpyBot and maybe a pop-up blocker.

I use pop up stopper m8 works for me, no pop ups at all now and it works through the firewall.(Norton)

They do a free trial editition, used to be for a year may be a bit less now as it works very well and they might be losin' cash :eyebrow

Stay off of any on line gaming like Solitare, Bingo

etc as this will open back doors for your cassino on line crap type stuff pop ups to get through. Most or all windows you open need cookies to run them but some carry more than is needed hence all the pop ups.
Clear your cookies regularly and do a disc defrag also as this can also harbour windows waiting to be opened when you go on line. :confused:
