ExPat - We are looking at staying in Turkey for around 4 days, only real goal at the minute is to reach Gallipoli. So your suggestion to head towards Assos, could well be the next destination. It’s all going to be on the fly, just try and take in as much as we can in the short time we are there.

DA1ES - What was the weather like when you crossed the Alps in Oct? Did you buy your ticket for the boat before you left home or at the port? I’m still unsure which way to play it in that regard.

it was glorious sunshine the whole trip, right till the last day when i reached Calais so i was very fortunate.
i booked my ticket well in advance so got it quite cheap, unfortunately there was industrial action at the time and my ferry from Ancona was cancelled the morning i was due to depart so it was a mad dash to Bari for the evening sailing. although the ferry was busy it was not heaving so either way would work, i just went for the cheaper option.

We will be crossing the GR/TU boarder at Peplos then south on the E87.
