Got myself a GS at last :D A 96' R1100Gs bought from a fellow list member, Den Thopmson, had to go all the way to deepest darkest Fife to get it.

Allready started the "personalisation" changing it from Den's bike to mine :p

Got my first maintainence job, popped fork seal, either Den cunningly hid this, or it went on the way home, oh! and those ABS lights havnt stopped flashing

None of this has stopped me riding it, and those twin pipes sound superb.

Stef, Never had any probs with fork seals. Maybe not being used for about six months has dried them out a bit. I would leave them for a bit to see if they sort themselves out with a bit of use.
ABS occasionally did not switch on if battery was a bit low.

WARNING Along with GS ownership come the following problems

You are liable to lose interest in "conventional motorcycles.
Motorcycle News will suddenly become MORE boring.
All your friends will want one (this may take 6 months).
But it WILL happen !
You will have to lie about the capabilities of you bike to prevent this.
With a bit of luck, you will discover why you started riding motorbikes originally.
If you dont experience any of these within a short while, SELL IT, There is no middle ground.

enjoy

Im hooked !

Just took the GS for its first proper run, along with a Sprint St riding mate, headed up the fantastic A82 for breakfast at Tyndrum, then over to Aberfoyle, before heading south again via Drymen and Milngavie back home.

At approx 165 miles into ownership, as we left Tyndrum, the ABS went clunk and the lights went off :D a couple of times after this when starting off they did remain on if I didnt blip the throttle to get the voltage up first (battery warning light on) new battery required perhaps ?

I'll give the fork seals a few miles to see if they "seal" otherwise i'll stick a new set in, doesnt look like a major job

Allready decided I dont ever want a conventional M/C again :p
Always though MCN was boring
Sprint riding mates allready tried it out for size and was pleasantly supprised to find he could reach the ground.
A thought crossed my mind while out on the run today, that forums such as this should be "secret" cause if everyone finds out how good GS's are they'll all want one :p
Had more fun today (without scaring mysefl) than I have in a long time, especially the "leaving the Sprint behind in the bends" bit :D
Im hooked, the GS will be mine for a very very long time :beerjug:

p.s. did I mention the bikes a credit to its previous owner:p
