In a filling station in Lancaster, last week, there were two brand new BMW RTs in fire brigade livery that had a hose reels on the back and two large cylinders mounted on either side, I should imagine these carried a fire extinguishing chemical of some sort. They were accompanied by another BMW in the same livery but no firefighting kit, ridden by an instructor. They were out for advanced riding training.
These bikes can, apparently, get to a vehicle fire, such as a lorry on the motorway in a fraction of the time it takes a pump, and can put it out with what they are carrying.
I was informed that these are the only two bikes of their kind in the country and they are with Merseyside fire brigade.
