Just passed 2 K1200s entering M4 westound at Penllegaer with all the blue and yellow hatching and blue lights (check speed, ok) then noticed "TAN" and "FIRE" on their screens. What fecking good is a bike gonna be a fire or any other rescue situation for that matter?:nenau

Think about the times the fire brigade are called to RTAs. Couple of bikes nipping through the traffic congestion caused by the accidents. Feeding back info. I don't see they could do much cutting away of debris, but as a fast response unit to get info, priceless.

He must have, I'd love to ride around all day at the tax payers expense.

mmmmm.

Doubt you would say that if he was first on scene and carried out a evaluation before the appliances turned up at the steel works then ensured that other vehicles came to assist what was already on the way.:nenau

you think that is fun what about the two firechaps riding about on trailies doing the fire roads all over south wales. now thats a cushy number..

In a filling station in Lancaster, last week, there were two brand new BMW RTs in fire brigade livery that had a hose reels on the back and two large cylinders mounted on either side, I should imagine these carried a fire extinguishing chemical of some sort. They were accompanied by another BMW in the same livery but no firefighting kit, ridden by an instructor. They were out for advanced riding training.
These bikes can, apparently, get to a vehicle fire, such as a lorry on the motorway in a fraction of the time it takes a pump, and can put it out with what they are carrying.
I was informed that these are the only two bikes of their kind in the country and they are with Merseyside fire brigade.

South Wales only has one Ducati. But it is a 1198S and yes I am one of the three lucky Firefighters that get to ride it:):):)
It is a road safety tool. The project is called Ride Out Ride Right and we invite riders to come along for an observation ride and offer nothing other than advice and encourage riders to advance their riding by attending a course such as IAM, ROSPA, Enhanced Rider etc.
Check out South Wales Fire and Rescue Services Web site and look for the link to RORR:beerjug::beerjug:
