Firemans pyrenees trip

Hi fellas,
Well i said i would post a film of my trip to the Pyrenees the other week but i am having a mare compressing it down small enough for vimeo, I have got it from 4.7 gigs down to 1.7 but need to get it down to 500mb, any ideas without going to any expence with new software.
Anyhow just to keep you entertained for 10 minutes or so i have put a few piccys to some tunes if you care to see them.
It was a top trip but HOW!!!! dear is it in France these days? Spain was a little cheaper but forget about the cost, the views more than made up for it.
I will try and sort the film out soon, I know its posted in the wrong page but i only ever visit the NW section

Cool, thanks for the posting that, looked liked a brilliant trip

How long was the trip ?
Did you sail to Santander ?
Out of curiosity how did the the 690 and XC cope with fuel , were they carrying a few extra litres in bottles ?

Hiya Rushy,
Th trip in total was 10 days although only 8 days on the trail in which we covered over 1000km off road, we were following a road book we got off a french guy some years ago.
the cost of the santander ferry was a bit rich for out liking so we threw the small bikes in a van and did the chunnel then down to collour in southern france, the chunnel was £126 return for the van and 3 guys, the ferry would of been £270 each so a saving made there, between us it took 18 hours from manchester to southern france which aint bad if your having a laugh on the way down.
Fuel wise , no probs at all, the 690 was doing in the region of 140-150 miles to a tank and the xc even better, we came across fuel stations about every 100km or so, the trails were great and most would run for 30-40 km then a short blast on the road till the next one, normally a few kms only.
We have now covered the full pyrenees from the port of vonuse near perpinion all the way up to pampalona in spain. if you get the weather its a top ride mate, even the bigger bikes can do it but at a slower pace,
Traffic!!!! ha ha what traffic, must of seen two army vehicles on the whole off road sections although care must be taken with a few 100 foot + drop offs at the side of the road,
Ill tell you what, gps is a great thing but have a go at the old way of road book navigation, brings a whole new meaning of adventure riding and you see alot more as you have to take in landmarks and features etc.
So.... whole trip all in about 900 quid
No need to pack like a camel or extra fuel needed
The 690 enduro r is the perfect tool, light powerfull and bags of fun.
it will do everything the old 800gs would but better and moor fun

Hi jim, i have to say my personal best piccy is at 06.28.
With ref the 690 off road, well what can i say!!! fantastic, i would recomend the soft setting (number 1) for tight twisty uphill gravel tracks as it gives you lots more drivability. Number 2 aggresive is a bit much off road but brings out the hooligan in you on the black stuff, tell you what mate the 690 can keep up with most bigger bikes on the twistys, turns in well and powers out fantastic. just loose out on the strieghts but any one can ride fast in a strieght line i guess
Also the suspension settings on hard(sport) feels a little harsh but comes in to its own when the speed builds up.
i played around with it quite alot and am now happy as a pig in shit.
i know this is a bmw forum but think i will be sticking with orange,

Johnny, we got the roadbook a few years ago off a french website, the guy makes a living out of plotting routes and converting them to roadbooks, i also need to find out what other stuff he has so when i find his addy ill post a link on here.

I fecking LOVE the 690's!

Im on setting 3 at the moment, it gives me approx 100km more fuel range than setting 1, you're right, setting 1 is hooligan

I stuck a D908 RR rear tyre on it Friday, brilliant!

No worries on the bits, they'll tidy up that back end a fair bit.
