Help...!
Have an Apple laptop and eMac desktop. External firewire devices are: LaCie Hard Drive, CF Card reader and Ipod. All are recognized/appear on the desktop of the laptop, but suddenly as of today the eMac no longer recognizes any of the devices. I've checked the cables, connections right way up etc. Ipod and card reader also getting power thru cable...so?
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hmmm .. don't you just hate it when computers stop doing *stuff* for no reason.

Try plugging the devices in individually and see if they work. If you have a hub try bypassing that. Check all connectors are clean and are fitted right.

If that doesn't work then try restarting your Mac in safe mode(OSX) or extensions off (OS9) (I think you hold down shift when starting but I can't remember exactly - the apple web site will tell you how) .. this will see if you've got anything corrupt in your system folder that is stopping the port from working.

If that shows up a problem then reinstall your system ... if not then call Apple for more help

The knowledge base in the support section of www.apple.com is really reaaly helpful

Hope this helps in some small way

Tried unplugging/restarting etc. to no avail....
Switched today and everything worked fine!
Who said computers were logical?!?!?
