I startet my sunday switching wheels –*from a set of TKC80s, to Battlewings.
The TKCs have been great this spring, on our local roads –*mostly poorly maintained asphalt and dirt. I simply wasnt careful enough and less than a mile into the first dirt road, I lost the front and went down. Old fart brought his head to the ground with a thud. Ouch.
Handle bar, valve cover and the ever fabulous Vern´s pannier took the brunt of the blow. I was lucky enough to limp away, bruised but with nothing broken.
So I learned to appreciate yet another detail with my 1150 – in a slow speed crash, where the rider stays with the bike, the boxer engine (and in my case in combination with a good pannier system) provide significant protection for the unfortunate rider. I am sure my foot and knee would have suffered a great deal more, if it wasn´t for the free space provided by the cylinder and pannier.
My ego is hurt and the bike needs a few parts – but I consider it part of the fun. Be safe, have fun.

Could've been worse.
