First service.is it free?

Just picked up my gs1200 from rydales in cardiff after the 600 mile service,they want 30 odd quid for oils etc.

Apprantley there was no charge until a few weeks ago when things changed.

wadda you reckon?

... but you may as well get used to handing cash over to Peter and his team .... they've had a shedload out of me over the years!!

BMW changed it as of January 1st ... any bike registered before is still free but anything after and you have to buy the oil and filter ...
Don't know why the changed it ... probably just because nearly all other manufacturers do it that way ...

Got mine March 2005, 600M service didn't cost a penny

Mine was free too

My first service was free at North Oxford Garage.

Got it on 29 April 05, first service 6 may 05

They even washed it for nowt too!!

I'll have to look into that ... BM told us to charge for everything but the labour ... so we charged ...

But yeah ... the dealer margin has been cut ... so when Adrian Roderick came down (new motorcycle manager for BMW) we made him sit on the wobbly chair and gave him cheap coffee... well it was a start!...

Fair play to them at rydales,john asked me to payfor the oil etc but i said i did'nt want to and he said he'd get craig to ring me and discuss it,i did offer to pay there and then if it was gonna cause a problem but john was most polite and left it for craig to deal with.

Its my first bmw and we are paying top dollar and should get top dollar service and after a shakey start i am becoming very impressed with Craig.Peter and John and the rest of the boys down there.

I had to pay 30 odd quid for the oil and filter in the end despite pleading wih Craig,but what you gonna do?

I have found bits of "grit" in the paint on the tank panels and they marked one when they changed one of them and i spotted it when i got home,rang John and he ordered a new striaght away no questions.

So i suppose you get what you pay for.
