First trip to alps and first trip with passenger/luggage

> Why not load your bike up and have a ride out to Zig Zag Hill
> near Shaftsbury that’s as tight and as steep as any of the hills
> you will get in the Alps then you can practise going up and
> down there a few times

Where's that? Any chance of pin pointing it (mapsource waypoint, or a streetmap link)?

cheers

Click here for the streetmap link. I am going there tonight for a try out although I seem to remember it is only quite short, but very steep and very twisty. I guess I'll know in about an hours time....

Bob - I rode Zig-Zag hill this evening... I see what you mean about steep and tight. I'm not sure I'd fancy doing that with a passenger and full luggage! I had about 4 runs up and down until a Colin McCrae wanabee decided to do a hill climb in his Subaru so I called it a night. I think I will go back out there and try my seat on the high setting this time and see if that makes a difference. Thanks again for the tip.

Did Grande and Petite St Bernard last week 2 up with full luggage on 1200gs. You should be fine - just be confident and take the hairpins easy and slow(i know thats obvious).

Just watch out for locals who know the roads like the back of their hands and come whizzing by you in their 4x4's, mercs and beemers.

Remember- enjoy the trip and take lots of pics- will be posting mine when I get them back from suppasnaps or something.
