Good evening,
Today I replace the suspension on my 1100 gs with some Hyperpro shocks purchased through this forum, they were taken off a bike that had done 5000 tarmac miles on them, so I took the bike for a test ride, and it soon became apparent that the bike is now standing at least 2" higher.
The shocks are adjustable, but the adjusters are at the top of the shock, meaning that (unless I'm missing something?) they need to be removed from the bike to adjust them :nenau

So, my question is this, should I mess about using the trial and error method to get them set up, or is there a place I can take the bike to have them set up for me? (I live in Kent)

Have the same problem with my Hagons on my 850r. Trial and error unfortunately

Why do you think the bike being higher is wrong? I only ask because when I fitted new Hyperpros to my 1150 it became significantly taller. Because the 70k mile originals were rather tired; the sag on the Hyperpros was dead on.

+1 on this fitted Hyperpros to my 1150GS and together with a new back tyres raised it about 2.5 -3". I made the mistake of increasing the height of my seat padding a year ago so it was a bit of a nightmare TBH but the bike rides great since the upgrade.....

It could be three things - 1. The shocks have been adjusted to be longer (and taller), 2. The old shocks were knackered and sitting lower, 3. The preload settings are totally different.

Do you have the stock settings for the new shocks? If I were you I'd jot down the current settings for reference, return them to stock settings, and take them off the bike and adjust the heights so they're the same as your old ones if that's what you'd prefer. If there's no problem with the new heights and it handles well you could just leave them. Presumably the previous owner either did it because he was tall or because it handled better.
