fitted a remus y-peice this evening.just wanted to say how easy it was probably down to the quality of remus.sounds better with o.e pipe on new can on way.will let you know about performance after a spin tommorow.

i did mine a while ago. i used fire gum to seal the junctions but found that it backfires when hot on run-down. so whilst back at the dealer have something else sorted out, i got them to re-seal it, but it still backfires, any ideas?

I have left my catcode plug in, on a commute to work it hardly pops and bangs. I have yet to try it on a long blast.

how much?

currently looking to buy the same myself.
Who's doing the best deals? Heard Sebring is much cheaper but 'y' pipe the same money and can only £37 cheaper than Remus and you loose the option to temporarily remove baffle.

have done a few miles since fitting y-piece definately sounds better bike seems to run a lot smoother mid range a lot better.worth the money? yes paid £150 for mine, will be even better when i get the titanium can.going to FRANCE in the morning for 5 days will see if fuel consumtion has changed.
ALAN you could try HEIN-GERICKE in CARDIF

Enjoy the popping and banging!! I fitted an alloy Remus race can and a Y- Piece in 2001 and have been enjoying the noise it makes ever since. The alloy on the can is a bit pitted after I rode up from the "Thatch Rally" in Southern Ireland and left the bike untouched in the garage for a week with the road salt eating away at it. In hindsight I would rather have the Titanium can.

Hi, fitted mine tuesday - Y and remus revolution. I had the remus on for a week coss there was a wait on the Ys. Guy at HPS said their supplier had sold 200 Ys in one week

It does make a big difference in noice with the cat off.:D

Cant say much about fuel consumtion, only done about 80 mile since fitting, but it will probably be slightly less, givin it more throttle to here that nice sound. as you do:D ;)

Fitting went ok, took tank off to ease removal of sensor.

No backfiring yet, sealed all joints with exsaust paste.

Did fuse 5 removal and 2 throttle open/ closed, and crossed my fingers.

One of the bolts which hold the Y piece to the centre stand mounts has snapped and left the broken bit inside the threads. I've had to remove it and have it drilled out so now its waiting to have a new thread cut into it to either helicoil or put a threaded bush in. (It's really handy having neighbours who machine titanium parts for BAe Systems :D )

Waiting for this to be done meant that I've had to reinstall the old cat/collector box. Yuk!! It still pulls well but sounds like a pile of sh*t, and doesn't have the pick up I've enjoyed for so long. I can't wait to get the Y piece back in as I've just fitted my first set of Tourances having run TKC's since buying the bike.

Y piece

What's the insurance position with a Y piece?

I've got a Y piece and Remus can but Equity Red Star state that unless Y piece and/or can have a E No. or BS No.? I'm not insured.

No E or BS Nos on either.

The Y piece is not E marked, but get and end can which is and you are OK. I have a Y piece and race can, and bought a little plate with the BS mark on it. Two rivets and it's legal :eyebrow

Check this out.

Big mistake! If you're found out then it's "perverting the course of justice" which is much more serious than simply having a race can in the first place.

If you're gonna have a race can then at least accept the fact that you could get pulled for it. If your insurance company don't like it, change companies; there are plenty that have no problems with race cans.

I've had race cans on all my bikes (apart from the GS and that may happen in time) and never once been pulled by plod.

I asked my broker to contact my insurer (NU) regarding fitting the 'Y' piece. Response: no problem or increased premium provided I notify them (Same response to fitting the 850GS final drive to my 1150GS).

PS. I only asked about replacing the cat, not replacing the end can as well.

Separating End Can from Cat

Tried to separate my End can and Cat when replacing the Final Drive but the junction resisted most efforts.

Any hints as to how to separate End Can and CAT?

Cheers Richard

REMUS Y PIECE

DOES IT NEED THE OXYGEN SENSOR FITTED OR CAN IT BE LEFT OUT? AM USING THE O.E. SILENCER UNTIL I CAN AFFORD THE REMUS TITANIUM ONE.

Soft hammer should do it.

Look under Exhaust Seal in search and you will get CitySlickers direction on how to fit the entire thing.
