As part of theft prevention on my 1150 '01, I want to fit a earth cut off key switch (as found on rally cars and tractors) to the battery earth lead - question is - does anything apart from the clock need electric feed when bike is off and key out - and does anyone know of easiest way to wire earth to the clock so it carries on and said thief doesnt know anythings up ? also want to fit a flashing red LED to simulate an alarm. Already have a power take off socket up front direct wired to battery. Cheers for any advice ! :nenau

Small fuse around the isolator, say 1amp. Will run clock but not much else.

Just isolate the feed to the fuel pump. I've a security lock in the side of the fuse box which when you insert the key and turn off isolates the fuel pump.

Plus another "secret" immobiliser that requires no key and takes a second to activate. :thumb

Thanks RCE and Steptoe.
Steptoe - sounds good, am I right in thinking you mean a key operated switch isolating the live feed to the fuel pump ? never thought of that one ! what sort of key lock would you need to take the current that would go to the fuel pump and where's the best spot to cut into the wiring !? cheers
Also I have seen mentioned before there is a 'secret' quick method of isolating on this forum - and quite understand that no one is telling ! (shame) but I suppose if we all knew from here, so could the thieving scumbags !?:blast
