It arrived from BMWBikeBits with instructions in German (and I thought only Touratech did that). Question, is this simply a question of unscrewing the old one and the new one slips on? There seems to be an inordinate amount of bolts, nuts etc.

Any advice appreciated.

Lost in Translation!

I've just fitted one of these to my 1200GS, and yes, I got only German instructions as well. Fortunately I have a friend who did German at University, so she did a quick translation for me.

It was then just a five minute job to fit. I could fax you a copy of my English version if you like, let me know.

Good luck sorting it out.

I've got the pdf instructions in english, if you want - there's a couple of bits where you need to replace spacers. I can't upload the pdf but if you pm me with your email address I'll email it to you.

It's for a 1200GS but it should be pretty similar, I guess.

That's just a complete piss take in my opinion. They object to you buying it directly from Germany even though it's in the EU (and the reason we have a EU .. free trade).

Then when you buy from the official importer .. he can't even be arsed to get you a local language instruction!

RANT OVER :D

Many thx lads but I managed to guess my way through it and its now fitted. The only bugger was that the additional protection plate that I also bought from BMW BikeBits which shields the part over the centre stand, won't fit with the the enlarged bash plate.
