Sorry for the stupid question...... but I want to fit a standard DIN plug to the powered 660 Zumo mount. As you can see in the picture there is one fat wire coming from the mount that then splits into four (headphone, microphone, mini USB, and inline fuse with power). I only want power and only need a cable length of about 20cm from the mount. What do I do ? Can I simply cut the cable at the desired length and use just the two power wires...... can I just ignore the now bare wires of all the other cables ? And finally, what colour wire goes to the centre pin & outer pins.:confused:nenau
Thanks for any advice, sorry for my ignorance :blast

Red (positive +) goes to the centre pin and Black (negative -) goes on the outer connector.

Can't see it being a problem with doing away with the other wires if your not using them, but I would put some heat shrink over the un used wires to protect them and stop any water getting onto them.

Make sure it's got a fuse inline or it's going through a fuse panel.

I live wired mine directly to the battery, yesterday to an 05 gs 1200, using the Garmin U clamp, to the bar above the clocks, and ran the cable under the side panels to the battery using cable ties, and spade connectors to the battery.
if your using the plug just split the live and earth wire outer case to the desired length, cut the excess off, then the same for the live and earth, re cut the live and earth and solder to plug, as Mark said above, for the other connectors just circle and cable tie.

just in case you might want to sell it another day.

Note remove fuse before connecting to Battery, then refit after.
