I know this is going to sound like a stupid question but i will ask it any way.
do you need to remove the front wheel to remove the front mud guard?
i simply want to fit an extension to it but not enough steering lock to drill the required holes.

wheel off?

Didn't take the wheel off mine and can't recall any particular difficulty getting enough clearance- only four screws so the bottom two are towards the outer edge of the guard anyway so full lock should give enough 'angle of attack' .
Mine had double sided tape so the tricky bit was getting it in the right place to look central/tidy etc, without having to peel it off too many times. Seem to remember i put a piece of plywood between the mudguard and the tyre when i drilled through....

Didnt take the wheel out when i fitted mine, plenty of room.
Defo, use a bit of wood or a v short drill tho.
Use a good line of silicone sealer inbetween the extender and your mudguard to stop the water running inbetween the two and jobs a good un:D

The fixing instructions show 3 fixings 1 either side and 1 in the middle i do believe i could get the ones either side by turning the steering left then right but defo no room for middle fixing exhaust pipes get in the way.
wondered about putting just the ones either side but with plenty of silicone to make up for leaving the middle one out?
good tip re the plywood :thumb don't want to drill through the new tyre's

I have never seen a fender ext, fitted with a screw in the middle:nenau
Most are fixed by 4 self tappers,2 either side.

If there's one thing I hate, it's a fender extender screwed on ruining the mudguard with crappy cross head screws.

I take the 'guard off, clean the underside and apply more double sided tape. The leading edge underneath is then sealed with a dollop of silicone sealant. Job done.

I've never had one come off ever ever ever ever.

Wreck Diver these are not screws they are simply plastic plugs that you drill a 3 mm and they pop through

Davy F they lies my original question do you have to take the front wheel off to remove the mud guard?

No bike I've ever owned has needed the front wheel to be removed before taking off the front 'guard. Obviously, I can't confirm this is the case for your model.
