Anyone have any experience of fitting these? I personal have no clue and would be more inclined to get it done professionally. My bike is 5 months old should I / Would I need to get a BMW garage to do it?

Thanks

They're real easy to fit.

1st make sure that there is no weight on the front of the bike, better still, remove the front wheel to completely extend the forks.

Undo the clamps holding the handlebars in place and just lay the bars and various cables out of the way. Next undo the top clamp for one of the forks on the headstock. Undo the cap on the top of the same fork leg (it won't fly off across the garage but make sure you apply slight pressure when removing it), remove the old spring and spacers, letting all the fork oil drip from it into the fork and replace it with the new one and the spacers. Replace the cap and tighten the top clamp.

Do the same on the other fork leg. Replace bars and wheel, enjoy. :thumb

PS. Make sure there is no weight from the bike on the forks, or the end cap WILL fly off across the garage.

as blue sweeper said, real easy to do :thumb2

Might want to cable tie the bars out of the way to stop em moving and lay old rags around everywhere but the fork tops to stop oil going everywhere. Only thing i did different was replace the fork oil with some 10 weight. If you do that you'll need some new 6mm crush / copper washers for the drain bolts. Pretty much any bike dealer should have em.

Next you'll be wanting a wilbers rear shock ;)

:eek::eek:

It wasn't as bad as it looks :D

If you'r not sure about doing it let a dealer do it, should only take an hour max for just the springs, a bit longer if they drain the forks and put fresh oil in. If you were closer i'd do it for you. Fancy a ride upto scunny :D

Nope, was fitting this

500 notes of rear suspension, worth the money. Only way to get to the top mount bolt is to either remove the rear subframe or remove the two lower subframe bolts, loosen the top ones and pivot it upwards :D

Good luck with the fork springs btw :thumb2

I think that i am going to have to take it to a garage, as much as i want to do it myself! I unfortunately don't have the space to work on my bike! A garage what's that?
Next question... anyone know of a garage in London area that you could recommend. I am conscious that a BMW garage might charge a lot to fit the springs?

Thanks all

RC mad, next time i am up your why I will stop by for a raze around, maybe you could help with the rear shock? But a bit far to go for now! Good luck with the rear shock! keep us posted.:thumb2

If you can wait till Monday 8th October, when he's back from Scotland, can recommend an independant mechanic in Penge SE20.

He has fitted the same fork springs to my GS.
