darkhorse, RussT, bandit, Martin Nelhams and I all hit a few Welsh trails yesterday in a 130 mile loop from Rhayader. We stayed Friday night in the Brynafon - a little more 'normal' than the Lion Royal, but it's become somewhat more shabby than it was the last time I stayed there.

Our route included the Strata Florida that had been used by the Welsh 2-Day on Thursday and Friday. The organisers had rightly ensured that the river levels and puddles were full to brimming.

It was on the approach to the main drag that we came across the body of the Duke of Douglas (aka darkhorse) floating in a pretty huge and deep puddle. Regrettably, cameras couldn't be readied quickly enough to exhibit the evidence of his near drowning.

Later, Martin's new 450 EXC suffered clutch failure. It had used all its clutch fluid but nothing else seems amiss. We got to a garage, bought some fluid and bled the system and it was fine thereafter. I think it was just a poor PDI that hadn't adequately filled the clutch reservoir.

they say the sun shines only on the righteous, that's another myth busted, looks like you had a cracking weekend.

Thanks for organising Greg, great day out, hope darkhorse has dried off now!! I'm up for the 14/15th September.

Six dukes went a-fishing,
Down by yon sea-side,
One of them spied a dead body,
Lain by the waterside.

The one said to the other,
These words I heard them say,
"It's the royal Duke of Grantham,
That the tide has washed away."
