I picked up my 06 gs yesterday and toom her out for the first time in the dark this evening. Aftr a couple of miles the dash lights all started to flash rapidly but dimly, there was no one light on, just the whole row flashing away very dimly. Should I be worried?

Having stopped off for a loaf of bread I started off again and noticed tge speedo wasn't working. I pulled over and turned everything off anf started again. Starter motor slow to turn, but managed tp get her going again. The battery is now on charge, but am I missing somethng, or shouldI be back at the dealer's door on Monday?

I am waiting for triders manual to come through, so still feeling my way a bit.
All help gratefully received.

If you bought it from a dealer then let them worry about it. Sounds like your battery or charging isn't the best and that can sometimes do odd things with the electronics.

Thanks. I will take her in next week. just keen to know if this was something that happens or a bit rare!

Battery, regulator/rectifier or a bad connection somewhere. Let the dealer sort it for you but insist they check all of that.

Having read up the riders manual online I see that the ABS light should flash and then go off after a few wheel rotations. The issue I have is that when the bime does its check on turning on the ignition, the only light I get is the green neutral light....all the others are very dimly flashing in the background. The ABS button makes no difference to anything! So back to tne dealers as I am convinced that the ABS isn't working at all, and I am getting no telltale lights up re the brake system. Trouble is tbe dealer is a Honda main agent. Thanks for all help received.

Could also be the plug beneath your instrument cluster.

I reckon you should have your supplying Honda agent look at it and let them speak to their nearest BMW agent (or they book it in with BMW) under your used bike repair warranty with the supplying dealer, assuming you have one.

Things to check.
Battery condition
Main earth connector on top of engine
Charging voltage under load

With a voltmeter you can do that yourself then you'll have some idea how to counter comments like "they all do that sir".

Thank you. The bike is warranteed with the supplying dealer so they can sort it to my satisfaction or have the bike back!

Excellent advice, thanks. I will have a quick look in the morning, but there js already an email waiting in the dealers inbox and a voicemessage. They seem a decent company so hopefully will want to sort stuff nice and easily.
