ive just been recovered by the RAC, bike started fine at beggining of ride stopped to meet up with my mates, i tried to restart bike and it was stone dead, every time i pressed the starter it clicked and the display went dim i kept fiddling with the ignition and the EWS flashed up, RAC man turned up and put the jump leads on and it started, when he pulled the leads off it stopped after about 10 seconds, will the EWS flash up when the battery is flat when the dash goes haywire

EWS is one of the symptoms of a duff battery

if its not running after a jump, either the battery is duff or the charging?

checked the charging output and thats fine so it looks like a new battery, thanks for that trainman
