So the time has come to do the above, do I really need a funnel and filling adapter contraption? There isn't much of a head on the reservoir in the module, worries me it'll run dry...?
Yes, you need the BMW funnel / contraption thingy, or make yourself one with a funnel and bung. Once you have this it is easy peasy. Done it several times.

He's right you know! all you have to do is to make certain the fluid level remains up. As long as you follow the procedure/order of bleeding it's very easy. As i think I have said before (it's old age you know) I replaced all the pipes and bled the system in less than two and a half hours.
Certainly easier than on some bikes where bleeding the air out can be a real pain.
