Hello

Interested in lowering footpegs to my recently aquired 1200 GS to make touring/long distance more comfortable, have fitted these sucessfully to previous bikes ( RT & GS )

A few questions

Has any one fitted a lowering kit to 1200 GS ?

Are there any alternatives to M V Verholen's kit ?

How is the brake pedal lowered to match revised foot rest height ? or
do you have to adapt 'riding style'

I presume that the gear lever is re-located on the spindle to lower the position of the pedal to match foot rest,

All advice, help gratefully recieved

I have fitted a set of Hornig pegs, from Sportouring - here's the link

Once fitted they can be rotated to various positions; so you can use trial and error to find the best setting (up/down and fore/aft) to suit.

There are a couple of things to point out.
1. One leg of the return spring has to be chopped - not a problem but if you want to go back to the original pegs I guess you will have to get a new set of springs.
2. On my bike, an 05 GS, there is no scope for downwards adjustment of the gear lever because it would foul the side-stand. I bought a Touratech adjustable gear lever but I had to modify that and use spacers in order to get the pedal low enough to suit the new peg position. Brake pedal wasn't a problem - with it adjusted to the lowest possible setting it works fine.

I can do pictures when I have more time if you are interested.
