What a joy this car has been to use for the past 3 years. Bangernomics at its best right here. 2002 plate gen 1 rx 300.
mileage 114,649 with half a tank of fuel.
Asking £2000 but open to close offers and trades for things with 2 wheels
This was Lexus's first 4x4 to compete with the German market so they threw so much R+D at this car. Built with the typical Japanese quality and detail.
So let me list the features before I forget.
3 litre v6 petrol engine with (lazy boy) automatic gear box. it does have a few gear options i.e. snow mode etc but I have only ever used them by mistake. drop it into drive and waft off down to where ever you need to go. We have used it each year to load up and go to France and occasional visits to the midlands, it has never failed to fire into life!
when pressed it picks up with a lovely v6 sound but mostly is extremely quite and comfortable place to be.
Captain front seats that are both heated. cruise control which is perfect on those longer trips or journeys with cameras....
The rear seats can be brought forward to increase boot space and also tilt back further.
Sunroof, tow bar (nice German trailer for tip runs by separate enquiry)
The stereo speakers are amongst the best I have ever had in any car, accessed through a Bluetooth adaptor that I will leave in place.
I have MOT'ed it today so sailed through with NO advisories.
Things have done whilst in my ownership:
OE replacement back box Nov 24
YUASA battery Jun 24
oil and filter service Apr 24 109,872
Pair of tyres rear Feb 24 109,785
Pair of tyres Front Sep 23 107,196
Large service+ Dec 22 103,032
front pads and belts.
Before me a Japanese enthusiast and his father owned the car for about 5 years. The car comes with a box folder of receipts going back to and including the original invoice for £33,000. Every single MOT is present. OE tool kit, jack, spare wheel, correctly pressured with good tread.
This exact car was reviewed by JayEmm on youtube and the link is below, which fortunately was released as they put the car up for sale which gave me great confidence to drive off to Essex and buy the car!
Now the bad points,
Aircon compressor has failed but we live in the UK so hey ho. The sat Nav doesnt function.
the reversing sensor speaker sounds like a darlek and needs replacing.
it is a V6 petrol auto so dont expect great economy - I get high teens around town and low 30's on longer runs.
the road tax is £415 per annum
It is NOT ULEZ compliant
the body work has no rust but a few typical bonnet chips and a scuff on one corner. The alloys were repainted by the previous owner so are good from a distance.
its not fast and its not a sporty ride. It is perfectly fine for normal limits and extremely comfortable. The only reason for selling is getting a newer one (off Professor Plumb)
If I haven't put you off then happy to field any questions. I will be sad to part with this car, she has so much charm.
pictures to follow.
